Grassroots childcare in the Montreal activist community
Here's an interesting piece from LeftTurn magazine from the States. Lots
of stuff we've been talking about and trying to practice in our work.
On November 15th, Labour Radio interviewed Centres des Petits Enfants (CPE) workers about government cutbacks to subsidized daycares in Quebec, as well as Jocelyn Porter from the Childcare Collective. You can listen to it here.
This Sunday December 9th from 1-5pm, we are hosting our fourth and final fall workshop: an open art studio for kids! It's an all ages event at the Ste. Emilie Skillshare (3942 Ste. Emilie, St. Henri), where kids can learn to make buttons, stickers, silkscreen and more!
There will be a Childcare Collective meeting on Sunday December 9th at 11am at the St. Emilie Skillshare (3942 St. Emilie).
Notice this is just before the final of our fall workshop series, "The Open Studio" at the Skillshare (all ages, from 1-5pm). That way if people feel like sticking around after the meeting to hang out with actual children, they can. So convenient!
So come on out to the meeting if you can (and workshop!), bring ideas and food if you want. Volunteers are very welcome!!
